Classroom training, hands-on (lab-module), 2 days

Purpose:

To teach participants basic implementation, configuration, troubleshooting, management and reporting skills.

Requirements:

  • Participants need to have basic netwerking knowledge (routing, switching and IP addressing).
  • Participants need to be familiar with the traditional role of the firewall in security.
  • Experience with other security technology is an advantage.

  • Network administrators
  • Security managers
  • Support personnel.

Certificate:

Participants receive a Essentials 1 package with a certificate.

Day 1 Subjects Covered
Technology Overview Concepts introduced. Hardware and PAN-OS architecture.
Firewall Configuration Concepts Configuration of: L3 interfaces, security zones, virtual routers and network address translation (NAT).
Lunch
Defining Untrusted Network Security Policy Security policy definition, configuring security profiles including URL Filtering.
User-ID Configuration of: User-ID agent and captive portal. Using user and group information in security policies.
Day 2 and 3 Subjects Covered
Implementing Advanced Security Policy Defining policies for: SSL decryption, inbound NAT and data filtering.
VPN Overview of route-based VPN. Configuring simple and advanced VPN (IPSec and SSL).
Lunch
Administration Configuration of: role based administration, high availability, Panorama and shared policy. Best practices for software release management and configuration control.
Expanded Networking Capabilities Using and configuring: L2, Vwire, Tap interfaces, VLAN tags and Policy Based Forwarding. Creating custom applications and defining application overrides.
Data Mining Using log viewer, defining log filters, creating custom and summary reports, setting report email schedules.
